Tally-ho!

This post is brought to you by VBS, a napping baby, and a husband re-certifying himself in CPR. 

Our computer is dying a slow and sad death.  I continue to think that I can accomplish tasks on it, only to become increasingly frustrated.  And blogger no longer has an app!  What's up with that?  I thought everyone/thing had an app! 

Poor Jon.  He texted earlier to say that it took 30 minutes for the instructor to get the sound figured out on the CPR video.  Nothing worse than sitting through a very thorough CPR class when you have held your certificate roughly 15 years.  But, he is a peach and thought to leave his work laptop home with me, so a win there I guess. 

We have recently returned from being treasured by the treasure state and I have slew of pictures from the slough.  Mimi and Momo live on Church Slough, but it sure doesn't look like a swamp, and who's ever even heard of a slough?  I prefer to think of it as a lake.  Prepare yourself for one million MT pictures.  (Actually, only 62.)

First Weeks of Summer

Seth started some riding lessons with Dakota the horse.

 

We hung out with Addis and Eleni for an afternoon while Grace was out of town, and have been able to get together with most of our other friends. 

 

Poor Eleni.  Or poor Noey.  She really wanted to snuggle him.  He really didn't.  :) 

 

Noey got a bike!  To say that he loves it would be an understatement! 

 

We've been swimming a couple times and Seth and Ollie both started summer basketball.

Buckner held their annual appreciate night at Joyland.

Ollie and Jon have also been out and about geocaching...

Throw in a bunch of playing at home, library reading challenges, bikes, going for walks, and a birthday party, and it feels like a pretty full June so far!

End of an Era

Ollie has wanted to say goodbye to his locks for a few months now, but I didn't feel like I was ready to say goodbye to them just yet.  Ha!  In the end his sweet, reasoned responses where what I needed to hear.  "Well, mom, maybe you feel that way, but I'm ready for short hair." It makes me chuckle just thinking about the pep talks he gave me. 

 

We decided we would tackle a major haircut after the last day of school.

I've got to say for the first few days, Jon and I caught ourselves doing all these double takes.  Who was this kid with the same mannerisms and dance moves as our Ollie?  It was like a doppelganger stepped into our lives. 

 

Now that he's had short hair a few weeks, I am so glad he asked for a change.  It's so much cooler for him in the hot Texas sun, plus it's way less maintenance.  He's joined the world of people who can shower by themselves and not need their mom for major hair help.  Plus he is just too handsome.  No matter the hair.  And when he puts product in it every morning, he tries to get the front section to stand up as high as possible and calls it his shark fin.

 

Now we just need to get him a good shave....
