Noey: 5 Months!

Nolan, just shy of 5 months.

Highlights:

Starting to eat from a spoon the tiniest bit.  The first time I ever fed him he chowed it down like crazy, leaning forward with an open mouth for every bite.  Subsequent times, he has not been nearly as interested.  The first 3 bites he always makes a terrible face, then seems like he is more into it, but I wouldn't go as far as saying he has a favorite food yet. 

 

4 month sleep regression is real, people.  Noey slept better at 1, 2, and 3 months than he did this past month.  After re-reading all my favorite sleep experts' opinions, it's time for a little sleep training, Noey.  Consider yourself warned.

 

We also got some exciting news this month; we will be adopting Noey.  It was a flood of emotions the day we found out, even though we had been expecting it.  We were so relieved and glad to get to love him in our home as a son forever, but it was also so profoundly sad.  He is such a sweet, bright, and delightful baby.  I'm sure he will grow into an amazing kiddo, and a wonderful man.  It stabs my heart to think that his birth family will not know him, will not get to see his strengths and delight in his life.  And we of course love him so dearly, I hate to think about the pain he may one day face as he confronts his own grief and loss over his first family.  Between tears from tenderness and gratitude to tears of sorrow, it was Kleenex kind of day.
