swimming (and sometimes bathing)

"What dreadful hot weather we have!  It keeps me in a continual state of inelegance"  ~Jane Austen

This sums up why when my mom came over today, two out of three of us were in our underwear/diaper.

These pictures are the decent ones from a few days ago.  Nowadays, we just can't be bothered to put on swim trunks before splashing on in.  It's just too hot to spend time wandering around, trying to find those blasted trunks.

Off to Durango and cooler weather tomorrow!

I love this remember when season that we are in.  It's so great to think back at our wonderful time with family a year ago today.  Laughing, crying, and screaming at the news that we would get to meet our sons.

foiled

So I busted out the pack and play yesterday for some time outs.  Conventional adoption wisdom says, when you put kids in a time out, don't leave the room because then they feel abandonded all over again and are completely freaked out.

What do you think readers?  Hogwash?

Actually, I think that is pretty accurate for S-Man.  But for Lil'O?  I really have no idea.  S-Man sits at the kitchen table for time outs, but Lil'O is not so great at sitting, so I got out the pack and play.  Which of course was like a celebration and cause for great excitment and rumpus playing.

So I have been foiled.  Anyone out there have advice regarding disicpline for an almost 2 year old who loves, loves, LOVES to hit??

  • We helped out with vbs at a friend's church last week.  The boys went to their classrooms everyday for 3 to 4 hours while I worked with a second grade class.  I was really impressed with how well Super Man did with his first pre-school type experience.  I also learned that conforming to peers is well and alive even in the three year old room.  On Monday after picking up the boys, S-Man would only call us Mommy and Daddy, which was new.
  • We can in fact get up 5 days in a row and get somewhere on time, but thank goodness we normally don't have to!
  • This is one of my favorite pictures of Lil'O from grandma and grandpa's house.  I figured I would just put it up, because I may never get caught up on all those pictures.
