Bay City!

Our Missionary Summer came to an end last weekend with a trip to see Ryan, Susan and their two wee babes.  They were the fourth family we have seen off to the mission field or visited in some form or fashion this summer, which can leave a person feeling pretty introspective.  What are we doing with these lives of ours!?!??

We spent some time on the beach, which reminded me so much of our old stomping grounds in Corpus.  No beautiful jungle for shade, just lots of sea weed to wade through.  On the drive out there Jon said, "I just hope it doesn't smell."  Ah Corpus, you are kinda hard to miss.  ;)  We did have a great time though, and even saw some dolphins swimming about a football field away from where we were.  A fun surprise when the fins you see turn out to be "the most beautiful creature".  (Superman's quote.)  I must also give props to Susan who was a super good sport; not many moms want to take their 6 week old to the beach.

Pre-Beach Picnic!

You know, just eating an apple and looking for shells.

Beach Babes!

This kid has got relaxing on the beach down pat.

Our camp!  The boys and I made a pvc shade tent with which I was quite smitten.

This kid is just too cute.

Ryan and Susan have this totally awesome pool in the backyard, which was so fun to hang out at.
Susan and Beck, a couple of little fish!

The first time we got to see this family of four!

Beck in his little pool.

Daddy with his pea in the pod.

Our kids swam for around 6 hours on Saturday!!

With Ryan making coffee is kind of like a science experiment.

The mad scientist and his delicious brew!

All our boys!

It was so wonderful to be able to hang out with such old and dear friends.  They will be headed out with IMB in January and will be on the field in April.  We are so grateful to be able to see them one last time before they take off.

This is what a car ride home looks like after you spent over 10 hours swimming in the previous two days.  Perfect!
